LCFE Launches Petroleum Trading Platform

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | LCFE Launches Petroleum Trading Platform

The Lagos Commodities and Futures Exchange (LCFE) plans to introduce a transparent pricing mechanism for petroleum products to enhance competition and investment in Nigeria’s downstream market. This initiative follows a licence from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) enabling trading and clearing of petroleum liquids.

The LCFE aims to connect physical energy markets with capital markets through its proposed platform, replacing fragmented price quotations with structured competitive bidding and transparent transactions. This approach targets consistent price evaluation for market participants.

Akin Akeredolu-Ale, LCFE’s managing director and chief executive officer, stated the platform would support credible market operations via trading, clearing, and settlement mechanisms. The initiative seeks to engage refiners, marketers, traders, financial institutions, and investors in price discovery.
