Osoi Tells Dangote to Delay Kenya Refinery Project

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Osoi Tells Dangote to Delay Kenya Refinery Project

Kenyan presidential candidate Patrick Osoi has advised Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote to postpone the proposed $16 billion oil refinery in Lamu, Kenya, if he wins the presidency next year. He emphasized that Kenyan business leaders could independently establish the refinery without Dangote’s involvement.

Osoi made these remarks during a Lions Movement event, stating that Kenyan entrepreneurs possess the capability to build the refinery without relying on foreign industrialists. He specifically warned Dangote that he would return to Nigeria once sworn in as president.

The proposed refinery by Dangote has a planned processing capacity of 700,000 barrels per day and aims to address Kenya’s energy needs through local investment.
