Egyptian Developers Seek Integrated Real Estate Framework

Egyptian real estate developers are advocating for a unified regulatory approach that integrates the UAE’s project oversight mechanisms with escrow accounts, Saudi Arabia’s pre-licensing protocols for off-plan sales, and the UK’s consumer protection standards.
This push follows President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s recent directives to strengthen market oversight and address delays in project completions by developers.
Current practices include selling units before construction finishes and offering multi-year installment payment plans, which heighten the need for regulatory safeguards to protect buyer funds and ensure timely project delivery.
Experts emphasize that Egypt must tailor its regulatory framework to local market conditions rather than adopt foreign models without adaptation.
