Hong Kong AI Listings Shift Amid US Market Volatility

Simon Yuan, Citi's head of China investment banking, stated that future AI supply-chain listings in Hong Kong will persist despite recent US market valuation pullbacks. He noted that Chinese companies planning to list there benefit from a balanced split between domestic Chinese and international demand, as observed during the IMF meetings in Bangkok.
Yuan warned that a full US AI cycle reversal could impact Hong Kong markets, citing recent volatility. He emphasized that many Chinese hardware firms have established overseas manufacturing to serve global clients and reduce geopolitical risks.
Looking ahead, Yuan predicted Hong Kong's equity capital markets will shift focus from hardware to Chinese AI models and application developers by next year, aligning with evolving industry priorities.
