Hong Kong AI Listings Resilient Amid Capital Flow Shifts

Simon Yuan, Citi’s head of China investment banking and Asia-Pacific head of financial institutions, noted that recent valuation pullbacks in U.S. data-center companies would not disrupt the pipeline of Chinese AI-related listings in Hong Kong.
Increasing capital flows from mainland China into Hong Kong equities have provided a critical demand boost for companies raising funds, according to Yuan. This trend supports the broader pool of investors accessing Chinese technology listings, particularly in the AI sector.
Yuan warned that Hong Kong could face impacts from a global reversal in AI investment sentiment, especially if the U.S. AI cycle reverses. He emphasized that recent volatility in the U.S. market would likely affect Hong Kong’s financial landscape.
Chinese hardware suppliers have gained from infrastructure demand, but their listing prospects depend on sustained investor confidence in AI spending. Yuan expects a shift in focus toward AI model developers and application companies next year, reflecting evolving market dynamics.
