NNPC Orders Pipeline Fire Assessment

NNPC Group Managing Director Maikanti Baru has directed immediate evaluation of the fire incident on the Escravos to Lagos Pipeline (ELP).
The affected pipeline, a natural gas line from Niger Delta to Lagos, supplies power plants and the West Africa Gas Pipeline System.
NNPC spokesperson Ndu Ughamadu confirmed gas supply disruptions in some states due to the fire, which originated from a bush fire at Abakila, Ondo State, on January 2.
Firefighters contained the leak point but could not extinguish the blaze due to high pipeline pressure.
