French and Vietnamese Leaders Highlight Strategic Energy and Tech Cooperation

French Ambassador Didier Le Bret emphasized significant opportunities for French businesses in Vietnam’s energy, rail, and green transition sectors during the France-Vietnam Forward 2026 event in Ho Chi Minh City. He noted that science and technology are becoming key pillars of bilateral cooperation, aligning with Vietnam’s infrastructure expansion goals and green transition efforts.

Vietnam’s installed power capacity stands at 90 GW, with plans to increase by 10 percent—adding approximately 9 GW—to support economic growth. France, leveraging its expertise in hydropower and nuclear technology, aims to collaborate on these energy projects, which the ambassador identified as a priority area for bilateral cooperation.
