Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu emphasized that reliable telecommunications connectivity is essential for financial inclusion, education access, and healthcare delivery in rural Nigeria. The initiative, NUCAP, directed by President Bola Tinubu to integrate every unserved area online, aims to extend mobile and broadband coverage where commercial networks are absent.

Kalu stated that for rural residents without consistent network access, connectivity determines whether economic opportunities are secured or lost. Financial inclusion increasingly relies on mobile applications, electronic transfers, agent banking, and digital services, which require dependable infrastructure.

The Deputy Speaker noted that connectivity enables online tutoring, learning materials access, and classroom participation, directly benefiting education in underserved areas. Additionally, the initiative supports civic engagement as election periods approach, highlighting its role in community development.
