Afenifere demands petrol price reduction to N350–N400 per litre amid government proposal

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political group led by Oba Oladipo Olaitan, has requested immediate petrol price cuts to between N350 and N400 per litre to alleviate economic hardship for Nigerians. This demand follows the Federal Government’s announcement of a proposed price modulation mechanism targeting a maximum ex-gantry cost ceiling of N1,350 per litre.
The group criticized the government’s stabilisation mechanism as insufficient to meet public expectations, noting the proposed N1,350 per litre ceiling would not address current economic pressures.
Afenifere issued its demand in a communiqué signed by Olaitan and newly appointed Secretary-General Alade Rotimi-John after a National Executive Committee meeting in Lagos.
