Presidency and ADC Renew Dispute Over Fuel Subsidy Proposal

The Presidency and ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar resumed public disagreements on Sunday regarding his proposal for production fuel subsidy. This occurred amid electioneering preparations for the 2027 General Election.
Atiku Abubakar criticized the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, for implementing a 30-day discount on petrol during its retail and price modulation framework. He described this action as President Bola Tinubu’s political gimmick.
Atiku stated that the current 30-day discount gesture contradicts his earlier production subsidy proposal, claiming the administration had copied his initiative.
The dispute followed Atiku Abubakar’s press conference in Abuja, where he was constitutionally forming the African Democratic Congress’s Political Committee, PCC.
