Economic Communication Strategy Urged for Nigerian Policy Success

Biodun Adedipe, a leading African economist, urged Nigerian authorities to engage public relations consultants for economic narrative framing during a recent Fireside Chat with the Public Relations Consultants Association of Nigeria in Lagos.
Adedipe emphasized that effective communication is critical for gaining social approval of government policies, citing the initial opposition to borrowing plans as a case where consultants could have streamlined approval.
The Nigerian Senate approved the borrowing plan after the economic case was clearly presented, demonstrating the impact of well-articulated economic arguments.
Adedipe advised consultants to proactively share professional opinions on national issues with the government, regardless of formal requests, to ensure timely policy alignment.
He also stressed the need for consultants to conduct thorough business diagnostics and adhere to high standards of research and service quality in their work.
