EFCC Arraigns Nigerian-American in Cross-Border Vehicle Fraud Case

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Oluwatobi Adegoke before Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court, Lagos State, on a one-count charge of stealing. The defendant, a Nigerian-American, was arrested for an alleged cross-border vehicle import fraud involving more than $320,000, approximately N434.88 million.
Preliminary investigations by the EFCC revealed that Adegoke allegedly belonged to a syndicate based in the United States that defrauded Nigerians by advertising a 2024 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG for purchase and shipment. The commission stated that while residing in the U.S., he circulated photographs of the luxury vehicle to prospective buyers in Nigeria.
