KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | ActionAid Nigeria Proposes People-Centred Recovery Agenda Amid Nigeria’s Economic Growth

ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) has urged federal and state governments to advance a people-centred economic recovery strategy emphasizing affordable electricity, security, small business support, and productive investment. This call follows the World Bank’s October 2026 Nigeria Development Update, which reported Nigeria’s GDP growth at 4.2 per cent.

Mr Mamedu further emphasized the need for policies targeting inflation control, accessible energy, fair wages, and public spending accountability. He also urged increased investment in manufacturing, agriculture, technology, and renewable energy to drive job creation, local value addition, and sustainable development.

While acknowledging Nigeria’s economic improvements, Mr Mamedu highlighted that household welfare remains critical despite the 93 per cent rise in state government revenues between 2023 and 2025.
