Aero Contractors Begins Domestic C-Checks to Save Nigerian Airlines N2.85 Billion

Aero Contractors, operating under AMCON's receivership, has started conducting C-checks on its new maintenance facility for Nigerian Airlines. This initiative may reduce costs for airlines by up to N2.85 billion.
Aviation sources indicate that 26 Boeing aircraft will undergo C-checks at the facility within 18 months, potentially saving airlines N2.85 billion through domestic maintenance.
A C-check on a Boeing 737 typically costs airlines up to $800,000, with additional fees like international transport pushing total costs to $1 million per aircraft.
The estimated savings of N2.85 billion align with Aero Contractors' claim that domestic checks would cost 30 percent less than international alternatives.
John Ojikutu of Centurion Securities praised the federal government and AMCON for operationalizing the maintenance facility, emphasizing its benefits for Nigerian airlines.
