Lake Zone Mineral Sales Dominate Tanzania’s Trade in 2026

The Lake Zone generated Sh4.02 trillion in mineral sales for the year ending June 2026, representing 59 percent of Tanzania’s total trade via official mineral markets. This figure marks a significant increase from Sh2.44 trillion in the previous fiscal year and Sh1.43 trillion in the prior period, reinforcing its market leadership over the Southern Highlands, which reported Sh1.92 trillion.

The Lake Zone’s share rose to 58.6 percent of national mineral sales, while the Southern Highlands held 28.1 percent, collectively capturing 86.7 percent of the country’s official mineral trade. This concentration underscores the dominance of these two regions in Tanzania’s mineral market.
