The Minister emphasized that the Ore Corridor is essential for mineral exports, economic activity, and thousands of jobs within the logistics value chain. This corridor functions beyond a simple railway line, enabling efficient commodity movement from mines to international markets while supporting port operations and business growth across the sector.

TRIM will invest R2.2 billion this year for restorative maintenance on the Ore Corridor, with R1.5 billion sourced from the Budget Facility for Infrastructure (BFI). The Minister stated that the shutdown's success will be measured by completed maintenance, safe returns for all personnel, and restoring the corridor to full service without compromise.
