Yandex Data Centers Hit by Ukrainian Strikes, Disrupting Russian Services

Ukrainian drone strikes targeted three Yandex data centers in Russia on October 8, causing widespread disruption to services like Yandex Go and Yandex Pay used by tens of millions. The damage is expected to take months to repair, affecting daily life across Russia and other regions where Yandex operates.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy attributed the strikes to Russian actions that disrupted Ukrainian internet and mobile services. Yandex's 2025 report indicates five data centers in Russia, though the attacks have raised concerns about the company's resilience and operational continuity.
