Nigerian Postal Service Launches Digital Postcode System for Address Identification

The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) introduced the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System to enable Nigerians to look up home addresses and obtain digital postcodes. This system assigns an 11-character alphanumeric code to each addressable building, improving location identification for residents, businesses, and service providers.

Users can check their digital postcode by visiting the official NIPOST postcode platform at The system also displays homeowners’ names for properties commonly identified by their owners’ names in some address records.

The new system aims to enhance address identification and support critical services including parcel delivery, logistics, emergency response, and public service delivery through precise location data.
