Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Ahmed Rostom, announced plans to raise the private sector’s contribution to national investments from 43.1% in 2023/2024 to 67% by 2030. This increase follows a 57.7% share in the 2025/2026 fiscal year. The minister also noted that settling international oil company arrears in June 2026 restored confidence in Egypt’s energy market.

Rostom emphasized expanding renewable energy partnerships to achieve a 42% clean energy share in the national mix by 2030. He further outlined the Infrastructure Financing Guarantee Mechanism as a tool for regional cooperation and highlighted AfCFTA implementation, customs simplification, cross-border electrical interconnections, and green hydrogen initiatives as key drivers for energy security.
