Defence Minister Emphasizes Intelligence and Technology in National Security Strategy

At the Defence Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DECAN) Conference on National Security and Awards Ceremony in Abuja, the Defence Minister discussed the necessity of integrating intelligence, technology, and professional reporting to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
The Minister highlighted that effective security responses require early threat identification, understanding criminal networks, and cross-institutional coordination to counter terrorism and organized crime. He stressed that while troop movements and territorial gains remain significant, preventive intelligence and timely decision-making are equally vital indicators of operational success.
The Minister also emphasized that technology should complement, not replace, professional judgment in security operations, aligning with the conference’s focus on intelligence-led approaches. This stance reflects the broader push for a digital era in national security, as noted in the READ ALSO section.
