FG Challenges World Bank Revenue Claims, Debts

The Federal Government has criticized the World Bank’s revenue figures, calling them misleading. The ministry stated that the data used to calculate interest payments consuming 124 per cent of the FG’s revenue in the first half of 2026 is incomplete.
The FG also rejected concerns about debt sustainability, arguing that the calculation did not account for debt obligations managed on behalf of state governments. The ministry emphasized that the figures were not accurate.
The Federal Ministry of Finance claimed that the World Bank’s Nigeria Development Update contained flawed revenue data. The government highlighted that the figures failed to reflect the full financial picture.
