SEC Launches 10-Year Plan to Expand Capital Market to N750tn

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has introduced a 10-year strategy to expand Nigeria’s capital market to N750tn by 2036, starting from a current value of approximately N250tn. This initiative was announced by Dr Emomotimi Agama, the Director-General of SEC, during the National Capital Market Conference 2026 in Abuja.
The Nigerian Capital Market Master Plan 2026–2036, referred to as NCMMP 2.0, aims to enhance market participation, broaden investment options, and reinforce the integrity and infrastructure of the capital market. Agama emphasized that the plan supports President Bola Tinubu’s goal of achieving a $1tn economy.
The plan is based on the previous capital market master plan and incorporates feedback from various stakeholders, including market operators, issuers, investors, regulators, and government bodies. It is intended to build on the progress made over the past decade.
