NLC Warns of Continued Strike Pressure

The Nigeria Labour Congress has stated that Nigerian workers continue to face significant economic challenges, even with the national minimum wage raised to N70,000. The union has maintained its two-week ultimatum to the Federal Government regarding rising petrol prices and ongoing wage discussions.
Joe Ajaero, the NLC president, expressed dissatisfaction with the implementation of the 2024 minimum wage agreement during a meeting in Abuja. He emphasized the need for immediate actions to tackle the increasing cost of living for workers.
Labour and the Federal Government are experiencing heightened tensions over the declining purchasing power of workers. The union is pushing for petrol price reductions and new salary negotiations to address these concerns.
