Nigeria’s Real Estate Sector Drives Economic Growth

Nigeria's real estate sector plays a significant role in the nation's economy, contributing 13.10 per cent to real GDP. This growth is supported by a 6.38 per cent year-on-year expansion in the construction sector during the first quarter of 2026.
Despite overall sector growth, commercial property performance remains selective across the country. Meanwhile, in Lagos, the high contribution of real estate to the economy is linked to a shortage of formal housing supply, which has led to increased residential rents.
The real estate sector's economic impact is evident in its contribution to GDP, highlighting its importance as a key pillar of national economic performance.
