Court Dismisses EFCC Report on London/Paris Club Refunds

A High Court in Abuja has invalidated an investigation report by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding alleged fraud in London/Paris Club refunds. The court's decision was based on the claim that the EFCC's probe involved 774 local government areas.

Justice Suleiman Belgore criticized the Federal Government for instructing the EFCC to investigate the matter, despite prior court rulings. The judge argued that the government overstepped its authority by directing the agency to pursue the case.

The court also noted that the EFCC was directed to investigate court judgments related to payments to a consultant, Dr. The judge found the government's actions to be beyond its legal powers.
