South Africa Announces MTBPS for 2026

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana is set to present the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement during a National Assembly session on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. This statement outlines the government's revised economic outlook and updated expenditure estimates.

The MTBPS includes details on the economic policy framework, revised economic forecasts, adjusted departmental budgets, and provisions for emergency spending. It also serves as part of South Africa’s Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, which extends the budget planning horizon.

According to Parliament, the MTBPS plays a key role in the budget process by establishing the fiscal framework for the upcoming national budget. It provides Parliament and the public with National Treasury’s assessment of the current economic situation.
