The bill was transmitted to the assembly by the National Assembly through a letter dated September 16, 2026, signed by Kamoru Ogunlana, Clerk to the National Assembly, and addressed to Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, the Speaker of the Kebbi Assembly.
During Tuesday’s plenary session, the Majority Leader, Faruku Aliyu Nassarawa Jega, read the letter, which noted that the Senate passed the bill on June 24, 2026, and the House of Representatives on July 23, 2026.
The letter emphasized that the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives directed the bill’s transmission to state assemblies in accordance with Section 9(1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
