Yusuf Bello Aliyu, a member of the Kano State House of Assembly, has been suspended for three months after allegedly insulting Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The suspension was imposed following an incident where Aliyu was seen holding a rabbit by its ears while making remarks deemed insulting to the governor.

The assembly directed Aliyu to stay away from all legislative activities during the suspension period. The decision was made during a plenary meeting held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The assembly had previously announced plans to invite Aliyu regarding the video in question.

Lawan Hussaini Dala, a member of the assembly, stated that Aliyu was required to appear before the assembly and publicly apologize to Governor Yusuf.
