More than 100 students from multiple secondary schools in Ijebu-Ode, Ago-Iwoye, and Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, were admitted to hospitals after inhaling toxic gas.

The hospitalisations occurred on Wednesday, October 21, with students taken to the State Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, the General Hospital in Ijebu-Igbo, and other medical facilities.

Social media videos depict students collapsing and being transported to hospitals after exposure to the harmful substance.

A teacher reported that students and staff experienced breathing difficulties after inhaling the gas.

The gas leak has been recurring since April, with hundreds of students hospitalised each time it occurs unexpectedly.

A teacher expressed concern over the government's delayed response to address the ongoing and potentially fatal gas leak.
