A 40-year-old man, Samson Ekata, has been taken into police custody in Edo State over the alleged death of his eight-month pregnant girlfriend in Uromi. The Edo State Police Command confirmed the arrest, linking Ekata to the incident that occurred in Esan North East Local Government Area.

Ekata was among several individuals displayed by the State Police Command during recent enforcement activities. Law enforcement officials noted that the victim had been living with the suspect for about one year before the incident occurred.

Authorities reported that after causing her death, the suspect allegedly tried to forcibly remove the unborn child. The Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, described the case as a troubling matter and praised the community for their cooperation in the suspect's arrest.
