Nigeria’s Akpabio Seeks Enhanced UK Collaboration

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has emphasized the need for stronger legislative cooperation between Nigeria and the United Kingdom, advocating for expanded parliamentary exchanges and increased British investment in Nigeria’s oil and mining sectors.
Akpabio expressed this during a meeting in Abuja with British High Commissioner Peter Vowles, who visited his office on Wednesday.
He highlighted the significance of London as a second home for Nigeria, urging both nations to deepen their ties through exchange programs to enhance legislative capacity and institutional collaboration.
Akpabio also noted Nigeria’s strategic importance in Africa, citing its economic and security roles, and called for the continuation of existing ties.
He further requested the British envoy to promote UK investments in Nigeria’s oil and mining industries.
