NSC Justifies Exclusion of Deaf Sports from Festival

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has stated that the exclusion of certain sports, including Deaf Sports, from the National Sports Festival was based on competitive standards. The commission emphasized that the festival is being repositioned to enhance its competitiveness and commercial appeal.
Michael Obasi, the Special Assistant on Media to the Director-General of the NSC, explained that the decision was not aimed at excluding any federation but to ensure only sports meeting specific criteria are included in the event.
Deaf Sports Federation athletes protested their exclusion from the festival, which is scheduled to take place in November. The athletes expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision, which they believe affects their participation opportunities.
