KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Fuel Dealers Warn Against Panic Buying Amid Uncertainty

Petroleum dealers have called on consumers to avoid panic buying amid ongoing discussions between the Jamaat-i-Islami and the government regarding fuel levies. The warning comes as the situation remains inconclusive, with dealers emphasizing the potential for market distortions due to excessive purchases.

Malik Khuda Baksh, Chairman of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association, stated that maintaining the balance between supply and demand requires cooperation from all stakeholders, including the government, industry, and consumers.

Khuda Baksh highlighted that past instances of long queues at petrol pumps have led to artificial shortages in certain areas, underscoring the need for responsible consumer behavior to prevent unnecessary disruptions.
