The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed concern over an alleged attack on its House of Assembly candidate for Ezza South State Constituency in Ebonyi state, Barrister Rollins Nwali, and his campaign team. The party has called for an independent investigation into the incident and urged for improved security for political candidates.

Professor Benard Ifeanyi Odoh, the NDC’s Ebonyi Central Senatorial candidate, reported that Nwali and his team were attacked by armed individuals on Thursday, October 22, 2026, during political consultations. The attackers ambushed the candidate and his team, setting a Toyota Hilux belonging to the campaign on fire.

Odoh described the incident as a threat to political freedom and democratic participation in Ebonyy State. He emphasized that political disagreements should not lead to violence, intimidation, or property destruction. The candidate also warned against further attacks on NDC candidates, supporters, and campaign structures, stating the party would pursue justice through lawful means.
