Orogho Community Demands Resolution Over Disputed Oil Wells

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Orogho Community Demands Resolution Over Disputed Oil Wells

The Association of Orogho Community Council of Representatives in Orhionmwon Local Government Area has urged the Edo state government to resolve a dispute over oil wells claimed by neighbouring Delta state communities. The council alleges that Seplat Energy Plc transferred six oil wells to Boborokun and Okunu communities in Delta state.

The council warned that it would resist the drilling of oil well 5 in Orogho, Ugu Ward, if its grievances were not addressed. It emphasized that the dispute must be resolved before further operations proceed.

In a press statement, the council cited coordinates from the Edo State Geographic Information System to support its claim. It questioned the validity of transferring benefits from the disputed wells to Delta state communities.
