Thai-Cambodian Border Dispute Intensifies Over Markers 52–59

A Thai-Cambodian border-fence project near markers 52–59 has sparked a political dispute in Cambodia, as former opposition lawmaker Um Sam An accuses Prime Minister Hun Manet’s government of allowing Cambodian territory to be lost to Thailand.
The controversy centers on the border sector between Boundary Markers 52 and 59, located opposite Pong Nam Ron district in Chanthaburi and Cambodia’s Battambang province.
Um Sam An claims temporary boundary markers installed through the bilateral process were placed within Cambodian territory, alleging Hun Manet’s government conceded land to Thailand for political gains.
Hun Manet has denied the allegations and demanded that Um provide documents and evidence to Cambodian border experts for verification.
