Aero Contractors Survives Nigeria’s Aviation Challenges After 67 Years

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Aero Contractors Survives Nigeria’s Aviation Challenges After 67 Years

Aero Contractors has survived Nigeria’s aviation industry for 67 years, a feat more than 100 airlines could not achieve. The airline retained its historical position and continued growth despite financial struggles that led to receivership management.

At its anniversary, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo recognized the airline’s survival as a significant achievement against Nigeria’s high industry mortality rate. Keyamo emphasized that Aero Contractors endured nearly seven decades while numerous competitors disappeared from the aviation sector.

Aero Contractors and Arik Air subsequently came under AMCON’s control due to financial difficulties and bank indebtedness. The intervention aimed to recover bank debts and protect the financial system, not as a government rescue package for the aviation industry.
