AI Enhances Traditional Medicine Access

Artificial intelligence is being used to improve access to traditional medicine, according to a report released during the 2026 World Conference on Traditional Medicine in Beijing. The report highlights how AI can make traditional medicine more accessible, standardized, and research-based.

Traditional remedies have historically relied on oral transmission and lacked scientific validation. This has limited their integration into modern healthcare systems. AI tools are now being developed to address these limitations by converting traditional practices into data that can be stored and validated.

Li Haiyan, director of the Institute of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine, stated that AI can transform accumulated practices into validated knowledge. This approach aims to bridge the gap between traditional medicine and modern scientific standards.
