Amani Asfour Re-elected as African Business Council President

Amani Asfour has been re-elected as president of the African Business Council for a second term. The re-election occurred at the council’s General Assembly meeting in El Alamein, which coincided with the African Private Sector High-Level Forum, the African Union’s Mid-Year Coordination Summit, and the El Alamein African Business Summit.
The newly elected leadership aims to enhance the council’s role in advocating for business-friendly policies and supporting continental economic integration. Asfour highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area as a critical opportunity to boost intra-African trade, industrial development, and investment in small and medium-sized enterprises, women entrepreneurs, and young business leaders.
Asfour also stressed the need to transition from raw material exports to higher-value manufacturing within Africa, focusing on quality standards and competitiveness to drive industrialization and value addition across the continent.
