APEC Ministers Seek Enhanced Regional Financial Cooperation

APEC ministers are focusing on increasing collaboration to address regional economic challenges. Officials and experts highlighted that the recent Finance Ministers' Meeting in Hong Kong has set the stage for deeper financial cooperation and progress in the financial field at the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting.
The meeting, which lasted a day and a half, resulted in the adoption of the 2026 APEC Finance Ministers' Joint Statement and a policy statement on digital infrastructure financing across the Asia-Pacific region. Chinese Finance Minister Lan Fo'an described the discussions as candid, in-depth, and constructive.
Two additional deliverables were released, including a report on supporting households and investing in human capital, and a compendium on financial access and opportunity for all. These documents aim to guide fiscal policy considerations for sustaining economic growth in APEC.
