Atiku Challenges INEC Over 2027 Election Materials Printing Contracts

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reveal the identity of entities printing sensitive election materials for the 2027 polls. He warned that unclear contracts and departmental redeployments risk eroding public trust in the electoral process.
Atiku also required INEC to detail the selection criteria for appointments and redeployments, ensuring all actions were conducted through merit-based processes without political influence.
He specifically asked INEC to confirm if Hitech or companies linked to it have been contracted to produce sensitive election materials.
Atiku claimed that over half of presidential ballot assets could be allocated to an unregistered company potentially based in France.
He noted that the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc is reportedly printing materials for 15 to 17 states, while private firms manage the rest.
Atiku further asserted that business connections between the Chagoury family, which owns Hitech, and the Tinubu family could compromise INEC’s neutrality if Hitech or affiliated entities were contracted.
