Baba Returns to Bendel Insurance FC After AWOL Period

Goalkeeper Joshua Baba, declared AWOL by Bendel Insurance FC, has resumed his role with the club following a week-long absence. The player reappeared in Lagos Saturday, joining Bendel Insurance of Benin ahead of their Matchday 8 fixture against Sporting Lagos in the 2026/27 NPFL season.

Baba was last seen on August 30, 2026, after sustaining a knock during a match against Warri Wolves in Benin City. He failed to return as expected post-recovery leave and only resurfaced in Lagos without prior notification to the club. Osagiede emphasized that Baba remains contractually obligated until the end of 2027 under applicable Nigerian football regulations.
