Edo IRS Seals Sites of Nine Non-Compliant Firms

Nine companies, primarily Chinese-owned, have had their operational sites sealed by the Edo IRS following non-compliance with tax obligations. These firms include Rongtai Hardware Limited, Rongtai Energy Technology Company Limited, Rongtai Building Materials Company Limited, and Rongtai Food Company Limited.

The tax liabilities, as stated by Courage Eboigbe, Head of Corporate Communications and Taxpayers Enlightenment Service Edo IRS, result from the companies' failure to register employees for PAYE tax, file Annual Employer’s Tax Returns, and deduct and remit PAYE taxes.

Prior to the enforcement action, formal notices detailing the liabilities were sent to all nine companies. Despite repeated reminders and demands for compliance, the organizations failed to resolve their obligations, prompting the EIRS to use its legal power of distraint to seal their sites via Court Orders.
