Egypt’s Finance Ministry Addresses Debt Challenges Amid Fiscal Reforms

KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Egypt's Finance Ministry Addresses Debt Challenges Amid Fiscal Reforms

The Ministry of Finance stated it is tackling high debt-servicing costs through accelerated efforts to reduce them in the coming period. This follows Moody’s recent upgrade of Egypt’s credit rating to B3 with a positive outlook, which the ministry attributed to economic and fiscal reforms stabilizing public finances.

The government reported strong economic growth helped lower government debt to 81.9% of GDP in June 2026, indicating improved fiscal health.

Egypt’s Ministry of Finance highlighted that strengthened reserves and economic activity have contributed to the country’s fiscal stability, supporting the credit rating upgrade. The ministry continues to focus on sustainable debt management through targeted reforms.
