FG Rejects Fuel Subsidy, Multiple Exchange Rates

The Federal Government has decided against reinstating fuel subsidies and multiple exchange rates, according to Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele. This decision underscores the administration's dedication to ongoing economic reforms despite concerns from international investors and development partners.
Oyedele clarified that the recent 30-day retail margin discount on petrol was a temporary commercial decision by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd. He emphasized that this measure did not involve public funds.
Oyedele explicitly stated, 'There will be no return to fuel subsidies or multiple exchange rates.' This declaration aligns with the government's broader strategy to stabilize the economy and attract foreign investment.
