France's Interior Ministry confirmed 410,000 individuals participated in nationwide demonstrations on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The protests, primarily focused on rising living costs and inequality, saw 110,000 participants in Paris.

In Paris, shopfronts were boarded up, and major cultural venues were closed as 70,000 police and gendarmes were deployed to manage the situation. While the main marches remained largely peaceful, clashes erupted after dark, prompting the use of water cannons and tear gas by riot police.

In Marseille, several stores were ransacked, and youths clashed with security forces. Similar unrest was also reported in Lyon and Toulouse, highlighting the widespread nature of the demonstrations across the country.
