Ghana Deaf Football Team Secures Group D Placement for 2026 Deaf Africa Cup of Nations

The Black Wonders, Ghana’s national deaf male football team, placed second in Group D after the 2026 Deaf Africa Cup of Nations draw. This placement followed the Deaf African Football Confederation’s (DAFC) invitation to the team, extended in collaboration with the host, Ethiopian Deaf Football Association (EDFA).
The Ghana Deaf Football Association (GDFA) has appealed to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MoSR) for financial support to participate in the championship’s first edition. The National Sports Authority (NSA) requested GH₵1,225,500 and $105,451 to cover participation costs.
Additionally, the GDFA also requested payment of an outstanding debt of $24,446 from the 2023 Deaf Football World Cup in Malaysia.
The Director of Communication of the GDFA, Mr Ransford Lartey, stated that settling this debt would allow the team to compete in the 2027 Deaf Football World Cup in Australia.
