Indonesia’s State Budget Targets Economic Growth Amid ASEAN Resilience

Indonesia's State Budget functions as a fiscal tool to boost economic growth while protecting public welfare through careful financial oversight. Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara stressed this role during his remarks on the budget's strategic importance for domestic economic expansion.
Suahasil Nazara noted ASEAN's status as a global economic 'bright spot,' attributing its resilience to a youthful demographic, increasing incomes, and effective policy frameworks within the region.
The State Budget deficit for Indonesia stood at Rp319 trillion (US$17.82 billion) as of September 30, 2026, representing 1.24 percent of GDP, according to the Finance Ministry's latest figures.
The initial budget plan targets a full-year deficit of Rp689.1 trillion (US$38.50 billion), equivalent to 2.68 percent of GDP, maintaining fiscal performance within the established framework.
