KOKO Business | People, Ideas, Markets, Growth | Kenya's Inclusive Education Strategy Targets Disability Access

The Kenyan government announced a Sh12 billion-plus investment to enhance education access for learners with disabilities through improved school infrastructure, teacher training, and specialised learning resources. This initiative aligns with the Fourth National Strategy for Inclusive Education, spanning 2026/27 to 2030/31.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Prof Adolf Mkenda launched the strategy in Dodoma on October 16, 2026, emphasizing construction and upgrades of schools and dormitories, teacher training programs, and learning materials distribution.

The strategy aims to ensure learners with disabilities and special needs fully participate in the education system by addressing systemic barriers within the national education framework during the specified period.
