KwaZulu-Natal Positions NEV Sector for Investment Amid Automotive Transition

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli welcomed a convoy of new-energy vehicles (NEVs) at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium precinct on Sunday, ahead of South African Auto Week and the KwaZulu-Natal Investment Conference. The Escaping the Noise 3.0 NEV Road Trip initiative, which included participants from Gqeberha, KuGompo, and Cape Town, transported vehicles to Durban from multiple provinces.
Ntuli stated the shift toward cleaner, energy-efficient vehicles is increasingly critical as households and businesses face high fuel and transport costs. He highlighted the sector’s potential to generate investment, industrial development, skills creation, and employment opportunities during South Africa’s automotive industry transition to new-energy technologies.
